Would you like to have dinner with the Mayor of Newton? Or explore the Jewish roots and global reach of Brandeis University? Want to hear about accurate and balanced coverage of news from the Middle East? Interested in learning about the changing landscape of Jewish cooking?
We start the night with a festive and fun cocktail reception at school with student exhibitions and celebration. The evening continues with a series of simultaneous, privately-hosted dinners. Each featuring a delectable meal and lively conversation with a renowned special guest from the world of politics, business, journalism, science, health care, or the arts.

Why is it so important?
All proceeds from Matters of Taste benefit the JCDS Annual Fund, which is the foundation for the flexible tuition plan, classroom and extracurricular programming, professional development, and our facilities.
How does it work?
Matters of Taste dinners take place around Greater Boston. Your invitation booklet provides details about the special guests and distinguished hosts, so that you can choose the dinner party you would like to attend. Seating is on a first come basis and sponsors receive priority, so you’ll want to RSVP quickly to reserve your place at your preferred dinner.
Who is invited?
Everyone! Please invite your friends, neighbors, colleagues and parents to join you at these unforgettable meals. Forward this website and extend the invitation. Find us on Facebook and you can receive more tasty tidbits about this year’s Matters of Taste special guests!
Can I get just a “taste” of Matters of Taste?
YES! Come to the festive pre-event cocktail reception at the school. Here, parents, friends, supporters, grandparents, and members of the community at large get to sample the school’s mission and vision. You may choose to attend the reception only or as part of your dinner ticket. (Like the Matters of Taste dinners, this reception is for adults only.)
