Va’ad Horim / Parent Association | ועד הורים |
Parents are integral members of the JCDS community, and in a variety of ways, partner in their children’s educational, extracurricular, and social experiences. The core missions of our Va’ad Horim (Parent Association) are to build community, to support the teachers and staff, and to serve as a bridge between parents and the administration.
The Va’ad Horim nurtures community and creates opportunities for social interaction and learning twelve months a year. During the school year, the Va’ad organizes many activities, including a weekly Men’s Torah Study group, a new parent gathering, a parenting group, a walking group, and Sunday soccer games. Throughout the summer, the Va’ad Horim keeps families in touch and also welcomes new families with picnics, brunches, and ice cream socials.
The Va’ad supports the classroom teachers through the room parents, and the Va’ad supports and initiates multiple community service efforts for the school and for the greater Jewish community. The Va’ad Horim also organizes staff appreciation events and our much anticipated annual end-of-the-year Community Shabbaton held at the facilities of Camp Yavneh in New Hampshire.
