There is a spiritedness and seriousness to our school. Students from Gan Nitzan (Kindergarten) through eighth grade are engaged in and excited by what transpires in their classrooms, where the JCDS mission comes to life. Walking through our hallways, or peering through classroom doors, we hear students and teachers in compelling conversations. The atmosphere at JCDS may seem casual, but the comfortable learning environment is our teachers’ deliberate choice. Behind each lesson are clear and precise instructions, with specific curricular goals and effective guidance. Intellectual conversation flows easily at JCDS; learning is a part of every aspect of the school day.

The inside of our building is open, vibrant and colorful. Students take tremendous pride in bulletin boards displaying their works of poetry, Hebrew and English writing, essays, hand-drawn maps, multi-dimensional art pieces, and flags which decorate halls and classrooms. Photographs of students and staff hang throughout the school, giving those who come to JCDS a genuine sense of family and community, which we all feel deeply.
