Our address is 57 Stanley Avenue, Watertown, MA 02472.
Stanley Avenue is a dead end street that runs off Waltham Street
in Watertown.
As a frame of reference, please note that Waltham Street runs roughly parallel to Pleasant Street (Watertown) in one direction and to Main Street (Watertown) in the other direction.
The simplest set of directions is from Route 20 in Waltham: Take Gore Street off Route 20 to the first stop sign. Turn left onto Waltham Street (which is Waltham Street heading in the direction you need to go and Grove Street in the other direction), then take your first right onto Stanley Ave. The school is a red brick building near the end of this dead end street. There is a parking lot in front of the school.
Many routes involve driving on Bridge Street until Waltham Street. Please note that there is no street sign at the intersection of Bridge and Waltham Streets. Look for Bemis Playground diagonally across the street to assure yourself that it is the right place to turn left onto Waltham Street. After turning left onto Waltham Street from Bridge Street, take the second left onto Stanley Ave. and proceed to the school parking lot.
Below are suggested routes to JCDS from various key locations. These include Allston, Arlington, Belmont, Brighton, Brookline, Cambridge, Lexington, Massachusetts Turnpike, Needham, Newton, Waltham, Weston.

From Walnut Street, Newton:
Follow Walnut Street northbound (past Beacon Street, Commonwealth Avenue,
Washington Street) to Watertown Street (Route 16 east). Turn right onto
Watertown Street. One block after the traffic light at Adams Street, turn
left onto Bridge Street. Follow Bridge Street over the Charles River,
and take the second left after the river onto Waltham Street. (There is
no street sign and no traffic light at this corner -- you will have past
the first cross-street with a car wash on your left; you will turn at
the next cross street with Bemis Playground visible from the corner.)
Continue about .2 miles (past Bemis Playground on the right and a lumber
company on the left) and turn left onto Stanley Avenue (well marked, and
identified as a Dead End). The school is a red brick building on the right
near the end of Stanley Ave.
From Centre Street, Newton
There are two sets of directions because it is illegal
to turn left onto Watertown Street from Galen Street (the extension of
Centre Street in Watertown)during rush hour, defined at this intersection
"from 7 to 9 a.m. and from 4 to 7 p.m."
(a) During rush hour: Follow Centre Street past Newton Corner, heading
towards Watertown. Turn left at the first traffic light after Washington
Street, onto Pearl Street. Follow to the end. Turn left onto Watertown
Street, then take the 4th right onto Bridge Street. Take the second left
after you cross over the Charles River. Follow Waltham Street .2 miles
and turn left onto Stanley Ave.
(b) Alternate route for non-rush-hour travel: Follow Centre Street and
continue straight when it turns into Galen Street. Turn left off Galen
Street onto Route 16 west (Watertown Street) and bear right at the gas
station onto California Street. Turn right onto Bridge Street and take
the second left onto Waltham Street. Drive .2 miles and turn left onto
Stanley Avenue.
From Cambridge through Watertown Square:
Follow Mount Auburn Street to Watertown Square. Take Main Street (Route
20) heading west (towards Waltham). Remain on Main Street heading west
about 1.3 miles; turn left onto Edward Road (after Evans and Rutland Streets,
which also would take you to Waltham Street). Turn right onto Waltham
Street. Turn left almost immediately onto Stanley Ave. JCDS is near the
end of the street on the right.
Alternate route from Watertown Square:
Follow Mount Auburn Street to Watertown Square. Take Main Street (Route
20) heading west (towards Waltham). Take the first legal left off Main
Street (a short one-way street without a street sign) and then turn right
onto Pleasant Street. Turn right onto Waltham Street at #313 Pleasant
Street, and take a quick left to stay on Waltham St (without the second
turn you will be on Rosedale). Continue past Bemis Playground on the right
and a lumber company on the left to Stanley Avenue. Turn left onto Stanley
Avenue. The school will be on your right.
From Belmont/Arlington:
Take Common Street from Belmont Center, under the stone RR bridge and
take a Right on Waverly at the Episcopal Church. Follow Waverly to Trapelo
Rd at the fire station. Cross Trapelo and make a left onto White Street,
at Wheel Works. Follow White past Belmont Street, where it becomes Waverly
(again), and continue on to the intersection with Main Street (Settles
Glass on the right; Mobil across the street). Cross Main Street and Waverly
becomes Myrtle; continue to the T intersection at Pleasant Street. Go
Right on Pleasant and make a right on Waltham St right after the new office
building, #313 Pleasant, and then a quick left to stay on Waltham St (otherwise
you are on Rosedale). Then continue to Stanley Avenue.
From Lexington:
Go south on Waltham Street. Continue on Lexington Street for 1.9 miles into Waltham and turn left at Beaver Street. Continue for 0.4 miles until De Vincent Circle and take the first exit onto Lyman Street. Continue .5 miles and take a left onto Main Street/U.S. 20. Within 400 feet, turn right at Newton Street and continue for .2 miles. Turn left at Grove Street (turns to Waltham Street) and continue for a little over a mile. Turn right at Stanley Avenue. The school is .1 mile on your right.
From Allston and some points in Brookline and Brighton
Take Brighton Avenue to Union Square; turn right onto North Beacon Street.
Proceed past the intersection of Market Street, to the traffic light that
faces Days Inn. Turn left at the light, and proceed towards Newton on
Nonantum Street. The Charles River will be on your right. Follow Nonantum
Street to the end. Continue straight across Galen Street, onto Watertown
Street. Bear right at the gas station onto California Street. Turn right
on Bridge Street (at the traffic light). Take the second left onto Waltham
Street. After .2 mile, turn left onto Stanley Ave. The school is on your
right
From the Massachusetts Turnpike (east or west):
Take exit 17. Follow signs towards Watertown. When exiting from Framingham
and other points west, you will drive the equivalent of ¾ of the way around
a rotary to be on Center Street which almost immediately becomes Galen
Street. (In lieu of a rotary, there are roads that encircle the Sheraton
Hotel.) When exiting from Boston and other points east, you will turning
right after the exit ramp onto Center Street which almost immediately
becomes Galen Street. Follow directions above from Centre Street.
From Weston:
Follow Route 20 east to Waltham. Remain on Route 20 east (Main Street)
through Waltham. Turn right on Gore Street (at a traffic light, just before
you reach the town line for Watertown). Take the first left and then your
first right will be Stanley Ave. Turn onto Stanley Ave. and you will see
the school near the end of the dead end street.
From Waltham:
Follow Main Street (Route 20) east; turn right onto Gore Street. Take
first left onto Waltham Street and the first right onto Stanley Avenue.
The school will be on your right towards the end of the street.
From West Newton: Drive east on Washington Street (Route 16). Bear left onto Watertown Street (still Route 16) and drive 1.5 miles. Turn left onto Bridge Street (one block on your left after the intersection of Adams Street), then take the second left after you cross over the river, onto Waltham Street. There is no street sign at this corner, and there is no traffic light at this corner. There is a Stop sign, and when you stop at it you will see Bemis Playground diagonally across the street. Soon after you take this left onto Waltham Street, you will see Stanley Ave. (also identified clearly as a Dead End) on your left. Turn left onto Stanley Ave. The school is a large red brick building near the end of the street.
From Needham:
Take Central Avenue to Chestnut Street. Turn left on Chestnut to West
Newton. Take a left onto Washington and an immediate right onto Watertown
Street (Route 16 east). Follow Route 16 east past Adams Street. Turn left
onto Bridge Street. (Bridge St. does not cross over Route 16/Watertown
Street. It is the first left after Adams Street.) Follow Bridge Street
past California Street, over the Charles River. Take the second left after
you cross the river, onto Waltham Street. There is no street sign at this
corner, and there is no traffic light at this corner. There is a Stop
sign, and when you stop at it you will see Bemis Playground diagonally
across the street. Soon after you take this left onto Waltham Street,
you will see Stanley Ave. (also identified clearly as a Dead End) on your
left. Turn left onto Stanley Ave. The school is a large red brick building
near the end of the street.
